Death Note (Gelus's Notebook)

Item from Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba

The second Death Note in the human world — born from a shinigami's love, inherited by Misa, and ultimately entrusted to the fanatic Mikami.

Gelus's Death Note entered the human world through love rather than boredom. When Gelus died saving Misa, his notebook passed to Rem, who brought it to Misa. It's the notebook Misa used as the Second Kira, then Light stored it, then Light gave it to Mikami as X-Kira's weapon. This is the notebook Gevanni forged pages for — the one Mikami brought to Yellow Box Warehouse believing it would kill everyone in the room. The fact that there are two notebooks in the human world simultaneously is what allows Light's complex shell game: different users, different notebooks, plausible deniability.

Appearance

Identical in appearance to Sidoh's notebook — plain black cover, white 'Death Note' text, lined pages. Indistinguishable from the other notebook without checking ownership. The interchangeability is part of the story's design: the notebooks are generic, but what people do with them is not.

Also known as: Misa's Notebook, Mikami's Death Note, The Second Notebook
