Ukita's death is one of the earliest and most shocking in the series. When the Second Kira's tapes are being broadcast on Sakura TV, Ukita races to the station to stop the broadcast. Misa, watching from nearby with Shinigami Eyes, sees his name and writes it down. He collapses on the steps of the building. His death proves the Second Kira can kill without knowing a victim's name through conventional means — they can see it.
