Sachiko is the most normal person in Death Note, which makes her presence almost unbearable. She makes dinner for a family that includes a mass murderer. She worries about her husband working too hard on a case that's actually about their son. She loses her husband, watches her daughter break, and never learns why. She is the human scale against which the series' intellectual warfare is measured.
