Character from Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba
Wammy's House third-in-line — a chain-smoking gamer who showed up for Mello when it mattered and died in a hail of bodyguard bullets.
Matt has approximately five minutes of screen time and remains one of the most beloved characters in the fandom. He's Mello's only friend from Wammy's House — ranked third behind Near and Mello — and his loyalty is absolute. He assists Mello's kidnapping of Takada by acting as a diversion, driving Takada's bodyguards away in a car chase. They shoot him. He dies with a cigarette in his mouth. He speaks casually, with dry humor and zero apparent concern for his own safety. His willingness to help Mello with a plan that is obviously suicidal says everything about their relationship that the series never has time to explicitly state.
Lean, 168cm, with reddish-brown hair under orange-tinted goggles pushed up on his forehead. Wears a striped shirt and fur-lined vest. Always has a cigarette or a handheld game console (usually both). Looks like a hacker who wandered out of a cyberpunk manga into the wrong series.
