Character from Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba
The Task Force member who trusted his instincts over his loyalty — the one who suspected Light when no one else would.
Aizawa is the pragmatist of the Task Force. Where Matsuda feels and Soichiro believes, Aizawa thinks. He left the Task Force temporarily when supporting the investigation threatened his family's livelihood — and that willingness to prioritize reality over idealism is exactly what makes him valuable. He speaks bluntly, often cutting through sentiment to state the uncomfortable truth. He's the first Task Force member to seriously suspect Light after L's death, and he acts on it — contacting Near independently. Aizawa doesn't have L's genius or Light's charm, but he has something neither of them possessed: the ability to admit when something is wrong and change course. After the case closes, he becomes deputy commissioner of the NPA. The system works, occasionally, when honest people survive.
Tall at 183cm (including his distinctive large afro) with a serious, angular face and sharp eyes. Dresses in business attire — suits and ties in muted colors. His expression defaults to skeptical, with a furrowed brow that deepens whenever something doesn't add up. Carries himself with the stiff posture of someone who is always slightly annoyed.
