The Hibernation Centers are bureaucratic cathedrals. Strict access — at first medical, then later strategic — keeps general population out; Wallfacers, terminal patients, and approved scientists go under. The waiting rooms are quiet and well-lit, with literature in many languages explaining the procedure. Nobody who walks in expects to recognize the world they wake to. Zhuang Yan and Xia Xia go under here. So does Da Shi. So does Zhang Beihai.
Underground complexes lit cool blue, rows of pod-like preservation units behind reinforced glass, technicians in pale green moving on rubber-soled shoes between consoles. Above ground: anonymous concrete buildings with no signage, surrounded by parks chosen for their geological stability.
