Blue Space's distinction is its captain. Chu Yan thinks the way Zhang Beihai thinks but a half-step ahead — anticipates that the Battle of Darkness must come, prepares his ship to receive the strike rather than land it first. After Ultimate Law detonates infrasonic weapons against the fleet, only Blue Space's vacuum-suited crew survives. She turns toward NH558J2 alone.

Appearance

Identical hull to Natural Selection — 1,500 meters, twelve hundred crew, same fusion drive — but in Book 2 increasingly modified for long voyage: extra hydroponic decks, extra shielding, vacuum-sealed crew quarters where the air can be evacuated on twenty seconds' notice.
