Mosquito-Swarm Fighter

Item from dark-forest by

Frederick Tyler's nuclear-pulse-driven kamikaze fighter craft — a swarm doctrine designed to overwhelm the Trisolaran fleet, secretly engineered to feed it instead.

On paper, the mosquito-swarm is a textbook asymmetric answer to a small, mobile, indestructible target: throw enough small platforms at it that something gets through. In Tyler's hidden plan, the swarm carries cargo bays of water rather than warheads — a resupply gift for the dehydrated Trisolaran fleet — to be detonated only after rendezvous, killing the invaders at point-blank range. The plan is ingenious and, the Wallbreaker explains, would not have functioned on contact with the actual fleet's defenses.

Appearance

Small, single-pilot or unmanned attack craft, perhaps the size of a contemporary fighter jet, propelled by miniature nuclear pulse drives. Painted in radar-dark coatings. Designed to swarm in numbers so large that point defense saturates.
