Lei Zhicheng

Character from dark-forest by

Long-dead Red Coast political commissar woken in the post-Crisis era as a hibernated cameo — a relic of the Cultural Revolution wandering a future that no longer needs his ideology.

Lei Zhicheng is in the book as a brief, almost ghostly appearance — the kind of hibernator the Crisis Era preserved by accident. He still uses ideological vocabulary nobody else remembers and keeps a Little Red Book in his coat pocket. He is polite to Luo Ji and bewildered by everything else. The future treats him as a curiosity; he treats the future as a question of doctrine he has not yet been briefed on.

Appearance

An elderly Chinese man in a Mao-collar tunic that has been carefully preserved in storage. Heavy black-rimmed glasses. Stiff posture. Hair dyed an aggressive black against the gray.

Also known as: 雷志成
