Vallaki's church, consecrated ground that should repel the undead — but its protective bones have been secretly stolen, leaving it vulnerable.
St. Andral's Church stands in Vallaki as a beacon of faith — or at least the memory of faith. Father Lucian maintains it as a sanctuary, and the bones of St. Andral buried beneath the altar consecrate the ground, preventing undead from entering. The church is one of the few truly safe places in Barovia. Except the bones have been stolen. Henrik van der Voort, the coffin maker, was coerced into taking them. Without the bones, the consecration is broken, though Father Lucian doesn't know this yet. Vampire spawn are already hidden in the coffin maker's shop, waiting for nightfall. When they move on the church, there will be nothing to stop them. The church's vulnerability is a ticking time bomb in the heart of Vallaki.
