The dungeons of Castle Ravenloft are cold, damp, and utterly lightless. Iron cells line corridors of rough-hewn stone. The air smells of old blood, rust, and despair. Strahd keeps prisoners here when it amuses him — political enemies, failed assassins, and anyone who has caught his attention in the wrong way. Emil Toranescu, the werewolf pack leader, is chained here after being betrayed by Kiril. Other cells may hold skeletal remains of prisoners long forgotten. The dungeons connect to the crypts below, creating a network of underground passages that run beneath the entire castle.
