Luna River

Location from Curse of Strahd by Tracy & Laura Hickman, Chris Perkins / Wizards of the Coast

A river that winds through Barovia's valley, passing the ruins of Berez — its waters are dark and cold, carrying debris from the drowned village downstream.

The Luna River flows through the southern portion of the Barovia valley, its dark waters winding between forested banks. Near the ruins of Berez, the river broadens into marshy flood plains that have swallowed the old village. The water here is brackish and foul, contaminated by Baba Lysaga's corruption. Upstream, the river is cleaner but no less cold. It serves as both a natural boundary and a navigation landmark for travelers moving through the valley's southern reaches.
