Character from Curse of Strahd by Tracy & Laura Hickman, Chris Perkins / Wizards of the Coast
A dusk elf mage haunted by grief and dark whispers — he seeks the Amber Temple to resurrect his murdered sister, regardless of the cost.
Kasimir Velikov is the last leader of the dusk elves of Barovia, a people nearly extinct because of Strahd's cruelty. When Kasimir's sister Patrina Velikovna became enamored with Strahd and sought to become his bride, Kasimir rallied his people to stone her to death rather than let her become the vampire's consort. Strahd's retribution was swift and absolute — he ordered the murder of every female dusk elf in Barovia, condemning the race to slow extinction. Kasimir has lived with this guilt for centuries. He is gaunt, with the angular features of his elven heritage weathered by grief and time. His ears are scarred where they were docked — Strahd's soldiers mutilated the dusk elves as a final humiliation. He speaks softly, deliberately, like a man who has learned that words have consequences. In recent years, Patrina has begun appearing in his dreams, whispering of the Amber Temple and the dark gifts that lie within — gifts that could bring her back to life. Kasimir knows this is probably a trap. He is going to the temple anyway. His guilt will not let him rest until he has tried.
