Character from Curse of Strahd by Tracy & Laura Hickman, Chris Perkins / Wizards of the Coast
A naive young woman from Barovia village who left home to find adventure and walked straight into Castle Ravenloft — she is Strahd's current 'guest,' oblivious to the danger.
Gertruda is young, sheltered, and tragically naive. Her mother Mary kept her locked away in their home for years, trying to protect her from Barovia's horrors. When Gertruda finally escaped, she walked straight to Castle Ravenloft — drawn by stories of the handsome count who lived there. She is now a 'guest' of Strahd's, treated with false courtesy and allowed to wander certain rooms, utterly unaware that she is a prisoner being toyed with. Her oblivious cheerfulness in the castle is deeply unsettling. She speaks of Strahd as though he were a kind host. She doesn't understand why visitors look at her with horror.
