Character from Curse of Strahd by Tracy & Laura Hickman, Chris Perkins / Wizards of the Coast
The only shopkeeper in Barovia village — a bitter, price-gouging merchant who charges ten times fair price because his customers have nowhere else to go.
Bildrath runs Bildrath's Mercantile, the only general store in the village of Barovia. He is a sour, unpleasant man who has responded to Barovia's hopelessness by embracing naked greed. He charges wildly inflated prices for basic supplies because he can — there is no competition, and desperate people will pay anything. His nephew Parriwimple serves as his muscle — a simple-minded but enormously strong young man who will enforce Bildrath's prices with his fists if customers object. Bildrath is not evil by Barovian standards — he's just a petty man in a land that has ground all generosity out of its people.
