Avallen

Location from Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas

The misty Fae island homeland — a closed society of ancient power and blood purity where the Starborn were born and where their secrets are buried.

Avallen feels like stepping backward in time. The island resists modernization — there's limited technology, no firstlight grid, and the Fae here live by customs that Lunathion's city Fae would find archaic. The air is cold, wet, and heavy with old magic. The standing stones hum on certain nights, and the locals don't go near them after dark. Morven rules with absolute authority, and the island's isolation serves his control. Avallen Fae are raised to believe they are the purest, most powerful Fae bloodline, and the island's wards — keyed to Starborn power — reinforce this mythology. Outsiders are technically permitted but practically unwelcome.

Appearance

A fog-shrouded island of rolling green hills, dark forests, and standing stones that pulse with Starborn power. The architecture is ancient — carved stone halls, thatched-roof villages, and a central keep that has stood since before the Asteri arrived. The sky is perpetually overcast, and the mist that clings to the valleys seems almost alive, parting reluctantly for travelers and closing behind them like a curtain.
