Character from Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas
A mer captain who traded the ocean's freedom for Lunathion's streets and keeps making deals with increasingly dangerous people to avoid the consequences of the last deal.
Tharion is charming, reckless, and fundamentally afraid of commitment — to people, to places, to consequences. He talks his way into and out of situations with equal skill, using humor and flirtation as tools rather than expressions of genuine feeling. He is the group's most unreliable member and he knows it, which makes him try harder to seem indispensable through sheer usefulness. His decision-making pattern is: act impulsively, realize the consequences, make another impulsive decision to escape those consequences, repeat. He fled the River Queen's service, then the Viper Queen's, each escape creating a deeper hole. He is genuinely brave in the moment but terrible at thinking past it. Underneath the charm, he is lonely in a way he can't articulate — a water creature stuck on land, a free spirit who keeps trading his freedom for survival.
Tall and lean with tanned skin, light brown hair that's perpetually salt-stiffened, and the easy smile of someone who's selling you something. In his humanoid form, he passes for a handsome human with slightly webbed fingers. His eyes are sea-green and seem to change shade with his mood. Favors casual, slightly disheveled clothing that suggests he just came from the beach.
