Character from Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas
A Prince of Hel whose domain is death itself — quieter than his brothers, deadlier than his reputation, and the one the other demon princes send when diplomacy has failed.
Thanatos speaks rarely and when he does, people wish he hadn't. His domain over death gives him a perspective that makes casual conversation impossible — he sees the end of everything and finds social pleasantries absurd against that backdrop. He is not malicious but he is deeply alien in his thinking, and his idea of 'helping' often involves methods that would horrify his brothers. He is loyal to Aidas and Apollion's cause but approaches the war against the Asteri with the cold calculation of someone for whom death is simply a transition, not a tragedy.
Pale and gaunt with hollow features and eyes like polished obsidian. He moves with unsettling fluidity, as though his joints work differently than a humanoid's. His presence makes the temperature drop and shadows deepen. He is the least humanoid of the princes in both appearance and demeanor.
