Character from Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas
The rebel network fighting the Asteri from the shadows — decentralized, desperate, and running on the conviction that the gods who rule them are parasites who deserve to burn.
Ophion is less an organization than a distributed act of faith. Individual cells operate independently, connected only through agents like Daybright (Lidia) and handlers who know just enough to coordinate without exposing the whole network. They have been crushed, rebuilt, infiltrated, and rebuilt again — the Asteri destroy every iteration but can't kill the idea. Their methods range from intelligence gathering to sabotage to outright terrorism, and the moral lines within the organization are hotly contested. Some members want reform; others want revolution. The Asteri make no distinction.
Ophion has no single appearance — it operates through cells of Vanir and humans across Midgard, identified only by coded signals and encrypted communications. Their symbol is a serpent eating its own tail.
