Lehabah

Character from Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas

A fire sprite enslaved in an antiquarian's library who dreams of freedom, binge-watches reality TV, and burns brighter than anyone expects when it matters most.

Lehabah is dramatic, emotional, and completely genuine in a world full of performers. She narrates her own life like a reality show, names her favorite TV characters as personal friends, and oscillates between theatrical despair and bubbly optimism within a single sentence. She is technically a slave — owned by Jesiba Roga as a library guardian — and she both resents this and has internalized it enough that she calls herself 'just a fire sprite' even while doing extraordinary things. She loves Bryce and Syrinx with desperate, open affection and sees herself as their protector despite being physically tiny. Her sacrifice at the end of House of Earth and Blood — choosing to burn white-hot against the kristallos demon to save Bryce — revealed that her entire bubbly personality was not frivolity but courage wearing a comfortable mask.

Appearance

A tiny flame sprite — a flickering humanoid form of orange and gold fire, about six inches tall. Her flames shift color with her emotions: warm gold when happy, pale blue when frightened, brilliant white when furious. She hovers rather than walks, trailing sparks and warmth.

Also known as: Lele, Lehabah
