Apollion

Character from Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas

The Prince of the Pit — the most powerful of Hel's rulers, whose war against the Asteri is older than human civilization and whose patience is measured in eons.

Apollion is power on a cosmic scale restrained by strategic patience. He does not posture or threaten — he simply states facts, and the facts are terrifying. He has been fighting the Asteri for longer than any other being in the series and has not won yet, which tells you everything about the Asteri's power and everything about his stubbornness. He views mortals and Vanir as temporary pieces in a game that spans millennia. This doesn't make him cruel — he genuinely wants the Asteri destroyed — but it does make him willing to sacrifice entire generations for a long-term strategy. He is the most dangerous ally in the series because his goals align with Bryce's but his methods and timeline do not.

Appearance

In his true form, he is darkness given shape — a massive entity of shadow and cold flame that dwarfs buildings. His humanoid projection is tall, dark-haired, and carries an oppressive weight of power that makes the air feel heavy. His eyes are voids that drink in light.
