Eithan is an Underlord — the rank Lindon and Yerin are trying to reach. He's been at this level for longer than anyone suspects, and his reasons for staying there are his own. The Arelius bloodline ability lets him sense everything within a massive radius, making him impossible to surprise and insufferable to be around. In Underlord, he shifts from direct mentor to something more like an architect — setting up situations where his students must grow, then stepping back to watch. He knows the Underlord revelation can't be taught, only discovered. His job is to make sure Lindon and Yerin survive long enough to find their answers.
