The Bleeding Phoenix hasn't fully awakened — yet. But something has disturbed its sleep, and the ripples are enough to cause a continent-wide crisis. Blood Shadows are spawning in its vicinity and spreading outward, latching onto sacred artists and either consuming them or turning them into berserk extensions of the Phoenix's hunger. For the Blackflame Empire, it's a military emergency. For Yerin, it's personal — her Blood Shadow is a fragment of this thing, and the Phoenix's stirring is making it stronger, hungrier, harder to control. The connection runs both ways: the Dreadgod's influence reaches into every Blood Shadow it has ever spawned, including the one wrapped around Yerin's spirit.
A vast avian form of liquid blood-madra that shifts between solid and liquid states. Its wingspan blocks out the sky. Each drop of itself that falls becomes a Blood Shadow seeking a host. Its spiritual presence alone corrupts madra channels in everything nearby.
