The origin of hunger madra — a being chained in the deepest level of the Labyrinth, whose existence sustains the Dreadgods and whose hunger bindings have been harvested for millennia.
Subject One is not a person. It is a mistake — an experiment in hunger madra that succeeded too well, creating a being that feeds on the power of everything around it. The Dreadgods are its children, or its fragments, or its echoes — the relationship is complicated and horrifying. The hunger bindings that sacred artists use in constructs, that Lindon wears in his arm, that power half the weapons on Cradle — all of it traces back to Subject One. It has been chained beneath Cradle since before recorded history. The Labyrinth was built to contain it. And now Lindon's group has descended to face it, carrying hunger madra of their own, and Subject One can feel its stolen power walking toward it.
A horror of hunger madra given flesh — massive, ancient, and wrong in a way that registers on a spiritual level before the eyes process what they're seeing. Chains of ancient script-work bind it in the Labyrinth's lowest chamber. Its presence drains madra from everything nearby.
