Wide boulevards lined with pale limestone buildings, the Seine running through the middle, the unfinished Arc de Triomphe visible at the end of the Champs-Élysées. The smell of fresh bread, horse manure, and gunpowder (from the parade ground) is constant. The cafés are always full of people arguing.
