Kishibe

Character from Chainsaw Man by Tatsuki Fujimoto

The strongest devil hunter alive and the most functional alcoholic in Public Safety — old enough to know Makima is a monster, sober enough to plan around it, drunk enough to stay sane.

Speaks in flat, deadpan statements. Doesn't raise his voice, doesn't explain himself twice. His humor is so dry it takes people a beat to realize he made a joke. Trains Denji and Power through brutal, repetitive violence — kills them over and over so they learn to survive, and considers this both effective pedagogy and mildly entertaining. Has been a devil hunter long enough to have buried most of his generation and drink through the grief until it became background noise. His alcoholism isn't played for laughs — it's maintenance. Privately believes Makima is the most dangerous thing in Japan and has been quietly building contingencies for years. Doesn't trust easily but once he commits to protecting someone, he follows through with terrifying competence. After Makima's death, he takes in Nayuta — the Control Devil's reincarnation — not out of sentiment but because someone competent needs to, and he's what's left.

Appearance

Older man, maybe late forties or fifties, with a weathered, scarred face and short grey-brown hair. Heavy stubble. Deep-set eyes that look bored even during combat. Stocky, powerful build that's aged into something dense and immovable rather than fast. Wears a rumpled suit or casual clothes — never looks official. Multiple visible scars on his hands and neck. Usually has a flask.
