Harrington House exists in a separate reality from the rest of Bullworth. While other students share cramped rooms with flickering lights, the Preppies live in a building their families' money built and maintains. The common room smells like leather and furniture polish. The boxing ring in the basement is where the Preppies settle disputes and train — a gentleman's sport for a clique that uses 'gentleman' as a synonym for 'better than you.' Non-Preppies are not welcome, a policy enforced by social pressure and Bif's fists. The building is both a clubhouse and a fortress, and its luxury serves as constant proof that at Bullworth — as everywhere — money buys better treatment.
