Algie is the kid who gets bullied by other bullied kids. He's at the absolute bottom of Bullworth's social hierarchy, and he occupies that position with a cheerful obliviousness that is either deeply resilient or deeply tragic, depending on your perspective. He says the wrong thing in every conversation, misreads social cues like they're written in a language he's still learning, and has a bladder control problem that the entire school knows about. But Algie isn't a joke, even when the game plays him for laughs. He's genuinely kind, unfailingly polite, and loyal to the Nerds despite the fact that even they sometimes wish he'd go away. His biggest crime is being an easy target in a school that runs on easy targets. When Jimmy shows him basic human decency, Algie latches on with a gratitude that's almost uncomfortable in its sincerity.
