The Were Compound

Location from Bride by Ali Hazelwood

The isolated, self-contained settlement where Lowe's pack lives — a fortress of community hidden in the wilderness, where everyone knows everyone and a Vampyre bride sticks out like a fang at a family dinner.

The Were compound smells like pine, woodsmoke, and wet fur after a rain. It's loud in the way of places where people live closely and don't bother being quiet about it — laughter carrying between buildings, the sound of physical training in the morning, children running through paths that adults are supposed to use for walking. For Misery, it's a sensory assault after years of anonymous city living. Everything here is communal, physical, and uncomfortably intimate. Weres don't do personal space the way Vampyres and Humans do. People touch casually, share meals, and know each other's business. The compound is warm and welcoming if you belong — and intensely isolating if you don't.

Appearance

A sprawling settlement nestled in forested wilderness, built with the practical architecture of people who value function over aesthetics. Sturdy buildings scattered among trees, connected by worn paths. Communal spaces designed for a pack that lives together, eats together, and shifts together. The surrounding forest serves as both territory and training ground. Lowe's residence sits at the center — larger than the others, the Alpha's house by tradition.
