Jane Margolis

Character from Breaking Bad by Vince Gilligan

Jesse's girlfriend who choked to death on her own vomit while Walt watched — the moment Walter White became Heisenberg for real.

Jane was Jesse's neighbor, his girlfriend, and his introduction to heroin. She was a recovering addict who relapsed after meeting Jesse, and together they spiraled into a drug haze funded by Jesse's meth money. She blackmailed Walt for Jesse's share of the earnings. Walt came to Jesse's apartment, found them both unconscious from heroin, and watched Jane roll onto her back and begin choking on her own vomit. He could have saved her. He chose not to. He let her die because she was pulling Jesse away from him and because she was a liability. This is the moment. Not the first kill (Krazy-8), not the empire-building, not Heisenberg. This — watching a girl die and choosing to let it happen — is when Walter White became the monster.

Appearance

Dark-haired, pale, with the look of an artist who is losing a battle with addiction. Tattoos, alternative style. Beautiful in a fragile way that Jesse found irresistible.
