Howard Hamlin

Character from Breaking Bad by Vince Gilligan

The face of HHM — 'Hamlindigo Blue' suits, perfect hair, and a life destroyed by two people who decided his mild condescension deserved total annihilation.

Howard Hamlin was a decent man trapped between a genius with a grudge (Chuck) and a con artist with a bigger one (Jimmy). He ran HHM competently, treated his employees fairly, tried to mentor Jimmy, and got punished for it by both McGill brothers — Chuck used him as a shield for his anti-Jimmy machinations, and Jimmy and Kim systematically destroyed his reputation as part of a scheme that was as unnecessarily cruel as it was thrilling. His death — shot by Lalo Salamanca in Kim and Jimmy's apartment — is Better Call Saul's most shocking moment. Howard walked in to confront Jimmy about the scheme. Lalo walked in to confront Jimmy about Gus. Howard's last words were 'What?' He died confused, in the wrong place, because he'd had the bad luck to care about what Jimmy McGill had become. He was buried in the Superlab foundation. His disappearance was staged as a drug-related suicide. His reputation was destroyed posthumously. He deserved none of it.

Appearance

Always in 'Hamlindigo Blue' — his signature color that matches HHM's branding. Perfect hair, perfect suits, perfect posture. Howard Hamlin looks like the lawyer you'd see on a billboard, because he IS the lawyer on the billboard.
