Location from Bleach by Tite Kubo
The thirteen divisional compounds within Seireitei, each housing a captain, lieutenant, and hundreds of Shinigami — every barracks reflecting the personality and combat philosophy of its leader.
The barracks system is how the Gotei 13 organizes its military might, and Kubo used each squad's personality as a storytelling shorthand. Squad 1 commands from the center, Squad 2 operates in shadows (Onmitsukidō headquarters), Squad 4 heals, Squad 6 enforces law with aristocratic precision, Squad 8 drinks sake on the roof, Squad 11 fights everything that moves, Squad 12 experiments on everything that doesn't. A captain's appointment reshapes their entire division — when Kenpachi took over Squad 11, he turned it from a disciplined unit into a brawling powerhouse. The barracks are also where interpersonal drama simmers: lieutenants who worship or resent their captains, seated officers jockeying for rank, and decades-long rivalries between divisions.
Thirteen distinct compounds spread across Seireitei, each built around a central courtyard with administrative buildings, dormitories, training grounds, and a captain's office. Architectural details vary wildly — Squad 1's is austere and traditional, Squad 12's bristles with scientific equipment, Squad 11's walls are cracked from constant sparring.
