Sōkyoku Hill

Location from Bleach by Tite Kubo

The execution grounds atop Seireitei where the massive Sōkyoku halberd — a weapon with the power of a million Zanpakutō — was used to carry out capital punishment on Shinigami.

Sōkyoku Hill is where the Soul Society arc reached its crescendo. Rukia was brought here to be executed — dissolved by the Sōkyoku's flames as punishment for transferring her powers to Ichigo. The weapon releases in the form of a giant phoenix called Kikōō, capable of obliterating any soul. Ichigo stopped the execution by blocking the phoenix with his Zanpakutō barehanded, and Ukitake and Kyōraku destroyed the scaffold using a Shihōin shield artifact. The hill has since become a symbol of the moment the Gotei 13's blind obedience cracked — the point where captains chose conscience over orders.

Appearance

A flat-topped hill rising above Seireitei's skyline, bare stone with a single scaffold structure. The Sōkyoku halberd stands embedded in a stone pedestal — an enormous double-headed spear crackling with spiritual pressure. The view from the top encompasses all of Seireitei. Wind whips constantly at this altitude.
