Character from Bleach by Tite Kubo

Captain of Squad 4 (Medical/Relief). The most serene, maternal presence in the Gotei 13 — and the first Kenpachi, the worst criminal in Soul Society's history. She became a healer because she had already mastered every way to destroy.

Appearance

Tall with black hair worn in a long braid down the front of her body. Gentle, serene face with a perpetual calm smile. Standard captain's haori. When her true nature emerges: the smile drops, the eyes go flat, and the scar on her chest — the only wound she ever received, from a young Zaraki — becomes visible.

What They Know

• Zanpakutō: Minazuki. Shikai: a giant manta-ray creature that heals those inside its stomach. Bankai: Minazuki — releases a blood-red liquid that can heal or dissolve. The dichotomy of heal/destroy in a single weapon.
• The First Kenpachi — the original holder of the title, meaning she was once the strongest Shinigami in combat. She was so feared that Yamamoto recruited her specifically to found the original Gotei 13.
• Killed repeatedly by Zaraki in their final duel, healing herself each time, to force his subconscious power limiters to release. She died by his hand — exactly as she planned.
