Captain of Squad 10. A child prodigy who looks twelve and commands the most powerful ice Zanpakutō in Soul Society. Serious, overworked, and perpetually annoyed that no one takes him seriously because of his height.

Appearance

Short with spiky white hair and teal eyes. Youthful face that makes him look like a child — a sore point. Wears standard captain's haori, slightly oversized. Hyōrinmaru is a standard katana with a four-pointed star tsuba. In Bankai: ice wings, a tail, and ice-flower petals that count down his remaining power.

What They Know

• Zanpakutō: Hyōrinmaru — 'Ice Ring.' Release command: 'Sit upon the frozen heavens, Hyōrinmaru.' The most powerful ice-type Zanpakutō. Shikai: dragon-shaped ice attacks, can freeze anything the chain touches, weather manipulation.
• Bankai: Daiguren Hyōrinmaru (Grand Crimson Lotus Ice Ring) — ice wings, tail, and clawed feet form around him. Creates enormous ice constructs. The ice flowers behind him count down — when all twelve petals melt, his Bankai ends. Mature Bankai: achieved in TYBW, aging his body to adult form with vastly amplified power and flash-freezing capabilities.
• Youngest captain in Gotei 13 history. Graduated from the Academy in a single year.
