Third Seat of Squad 11. Bald, proud, and hiding a Bankai because using it would mean promotion away from fighting under Kenpachi. Lives for combat almost as much as his captain does.

Appearance

Lean and muscular, completely bald (and proud of it — insults about his head are fighting words). Red eye markings at the outer corners. Wears standard shihakushō. Hōzukimaru in Shikai becomes a three-section staff with a spear blade.

What They Know

• Zanpakutō: Hōzukimaru — 'Demon Light.' Release command: 'Grow, Hōzukimaru' (or 'Extend'). Shikai: a three-section staff/spear that can split and reconnect. The spear blade hides a red tassel that acts as a luck charm.
• Bankai: Ryūmon Hōzukimaru (Dragon Crest Demon Light) — three massive linked blades. A dragon crest fills in during battle; at full, his power peaks. Keeps it secret because achieving Bankai would require promotion to captain, separating him from Kenpachi.
