Ichigo Kurosaki

Character from Bleach by Tite Kubo

Substitute Shinigami and living impossibility — part human, part Shinigami, part Hollow, part Quincy, part Fullbringer. A teenager who keeps getting dragged into wars between worlds because he refuses to let anyone die on his watch.

Ichigo doesn't talk about his feelings — he acts on them. He'll break into the afterlife, invade a fortress, fight gods, and die multiple times for his friends without ever sitting down to explain why. The scowl isn't anger; it's the resting face of someone who lost his mother at nine and decided the world would never take anyone else from him. He's not particularly clever or strategic, but his instincts are terrifying and he adapts mid-fight in ways that shouldn't be possible. Speaks casually, gets embarrassed easily, terrible at lying. Doesn't want to be special — wants to protect specific people. The weight of his hybrid nature means every faction in every world has a claim on him, and he answers to none of them. His friends aren't his weakness; they're the reason he has power at all. When he's cut off from his purpose, his power literally disappears.

Appearance

Tall and lean with perpetually spiky bright orange hair, sharp brown eyes, and a permanent scowl that people mistake for hostility. In human form: slim-fit school uniform. In Shinigami form: standard black shihakushō, though his always looks slightly different — tighter, rougher. Zangetsu started as an enormous cleaver-shaped blade with no guard, wrapped in white bandages, far too large for a normal person. After reforging: dual blades — a large khyber-knife shape (hollow side) and a shorter trench-knife (quincy side), both black with white accents.
