• Zanpakutō: Senbonzakura — 'Thousand Cherry Blossoms.' Release command: 'Scatter, Senbonzakura.' The blade dissolves into a thousand tiny blade fragments that shimmer like cherry blossoms. Byakuya controls them with his hands.
• Bankai: Senbonzakura Kageyoshi (Vibrant Display of a Thousand Cherry Blossoms) — drops the blade through the ground, summoning two rows of giant blades that dissolve into billions of blade fragments. Several forms: Senkei (condensed into thousands of swords surrounding the target — reserved for those Byakuya has sworn to kill), Gōkei (sphere of blades that contracts), Shūkei: Hakuteiken (all petals compress into one blindingly white blade and wings — final, all-or-nothing attack).
• Shunpo master — one of the fastest captains in Soul Society. Flash Step proficiency rivals Yoruichi in her prime.
• Kidō expert — uses high-level spells without incantation. Byakurai and Rikujōkōrō are favorites.
• 28th head of the Kuchiki clan, one of the four great noble houses of Soul Society. The weight of clan law governs his every public action.
