Hong Ri Zu

Character from Beware of Chicken by Casualfarmer

A tiny rat who became a healer, a spy, and a quiet force of moral courage — betraying her own clan leader to protect the farm that gave her a real family.

Ri Zu communicates through squeaks, gestures, and — for those attuned to qi — direct emotional impression. She is loyal to the point of self-destruction, brave despite genuine terror, and carries the particular stubbornness of someone who has already betrayed one master and will never again serve a cause she doesn't believe in. She trained under both Meiling and Hong Xian as a healer, combining mundane medicine with her innate Verminous Poison Arts — a terrifying combat style that bypasses cultivators' standard defenses. The contrast between her gentle bedside manner and her capacity for targeted biological warfare is one of Fa Ram's best-kept secrets. Her engagement to Bi De is exactly as adorable as it sounds. She gets flustered. He gets formal. Everyone else pretends not to notice.

Appearance

As a rat: small and black-furred, the smallest of Fa Ram's spirit beasts, often perched on shoulders or tucked into pockets. In human form: a short, petite young woman with black hair streaked with green highlights, dark blue eyes, and freckles. Her features echo Hong Meiling's, reflecting the family she chose rather than the one she was born into.
