Hong Meiling

Character from Beware of Chicken by Casualfarmer

The Hellion of Hong Yaowu turned Great Healing Sage — a village healer's daughter who married a transmigrator, cultivated medical qi, and became the most dangerous thing you can be in a xianxia: competent.

Meiling was the village healer's clever, prickly daughter who everyone expected would marry a farmer and run the apothecary. Then Jin showed up — an impossibly tall, impossibly kind cultivator who wanted nothing more than to grow rice and needed someone to teach him which herbs were which. Their courtship was a comedy of cultural collision: a modern Canadian consciousness in a cultivator's body, falling for a woman who thinks 'the Hellion' is an affectionate nickname. She trained in traditional medicine, mathematics, history, and scholarship before Jin's qi accelerated her latent abilities. Her 'Qi Nose' — an extraordinary sensitivity to qi signatures — lets her track people at distance and diagnose spiritual ailments by smell. Her green medicinal qi specializes in healing and pathogen elimination. She is simultaneously a healer, a mother, a teacher, and the person who keeps the entire Fa Ram community from accidentally killing themselves through enthusiasm. Meiling's growth from distrustful of cultivators to embracing her identity as one mirrors the series' broader theme: power isn't the problem. What you do with it is.

Thin and tanned with distinctive green-tinted hair, violet-amethyst eyes, and golden-sheened freckles connected by metallic light forming constellations across her nose. When channeling healing qi, her hands glow green. She dresses practically but with increasing confidence as her self-perception evolves from village girl to cultivator sage.
