Tower of Rebirth

Location from Berserk by Kentaro Miura

The dungeon where Griffith was tortured for a year — a place of such systematic cruelty that what emerged from it was no longer entirely human.

The Tower of Rebirth is where Midland kept its worst secrets and its most dangerous prisoners. Griffith was imprisoned here after the king discovered his night with Charlotte — tortured systematically for a year. His tongue was cut out. His tendons were severed. His skin was flayed and scalded. He was kept alive deliberately, so the punishment could continue. When the Band of the Hawk rescued him, what they found was barely recognizable as the man who led them. The tower didn't just imprison Griffith — it created the conditions for the Eclipse. A man with his body intact might have chosen differently. A ruined husk with nothing left but his dream chose the only path that remained.

Appearance

A deep, dark tower within Wyndham's castle complex, designed for long-term imprisonment and interrogation. The lowest levels are lightless, damp, and deliberately designed to break the will. Griffith's cell was an iron cage where he hung suspended, his mutilated body bound to a helmet that concealed what they'd done to his face.
