Item from Berserk by Kentaro Miura
An ancient suit of cursed armor that devours its wearer's humanity in exchange for power beyond mortal limits — the Skull Knight wore it until it drained him dry, and now it's eating Guts alive.
The Berserker Armor is the most dangerous object Guts possesses — more dangerous than the Dragon Slayer, because the sword only kills enemies while the armor kills its wearer. Forged by the dwarf Hanarr and imbued with an ominous Od, it suppresses all pain and fear, allowing the wearer to fight beyond physical limits. Broken bones are reinforced by metal spines that pierce through flesh. Severed muscles are forced back together. The body becomes a weapon that doesn't know it's dying. The cost is everything. The armor's Od feeds on rage and negative emotion, gradually consuming the wearer's psyche. The Beast of Darkness — Guts' inner darkness given form — whispers through the armor, urging him to surrender to pure violence. Each activation risks losing himself permanently. His vision is deteriorating. His hands tremble. He can no longer taste food. Schierke is the only person who can anchor his consciousness during full berserker episodes. Without her, he would have been lost already. The Skull Knight wore this armor before Guts and fought in it until his blood was completely drained — he is now an undead knight, which suggests the armor's ultimate destination for its wearer.
Dark plate armor of archaic design, heavier and more ornate than standard medieval plate. When activated, the helmet transforms into a snarling beast skull — the Beast of Darkness given physical form. The eye sockets glow red. The mouth is functional and can bite. Thin metal spines extend from within the armor to reinforce broken bones, piercing through the wearer's flesh. When Guts maintains partial control, his face is partially visible through the helm.
