Wyald

Character from Berserk by Kentaro Miura

An apostle of pure savagery — the Black Dog Knights' commander who lived by the motto 'enjoyment and excitement' and turned every battle into a massacre.

Wyald was everything wrong with apostlehood distilled into one creature. He lived for violence, cruelty, and gratification with no code, no restraint, and no agenda beyond the next moment of 'enjoyment.' He led the Black Dog Knights — Midland's penal battalion of rapists and murderers — and he fit right in. He pursued the fugitive Band of the Hawk with manic glee and nearly killed Guts before Zodd intervened. His death at Zodd's hands was unceremonious — the Immortal killed him for violating the God Hand's designs by threatening Griffith prematurely. Even among apostles, Wyald was considered an animal.

Appearance

In human form: a massive, wild-looking man with animalistic features and raw physical power. In apostle form: an enormous ape-like beast, towering and brutal, with disproportionate limbs built for destruction. His transformation was all fury and muscle — no elegance, no subtlety.

Also known as: Commander of the Black Dog Knights
