Sea God

Character from Berserk by Kentaro Miura

An ancient astral entity sleeping beneath the ocean — a living island of hunger whose heartbeat drew ships to their doom until the Black Swordsman went inside it.

The Sea God is less a character than a force of nature — an ancient astral being that slept beneath the waves and drew ships into its maw with a hypnotic heartbeat. It represents the kind of cosmic horror that existed before the God Hand, before apostles, before human civilization. The merging of physical and astral worlds woke it up. Guts fought it by going inside its body and destroying its heart from within — one of the most visually stunning sequences in the manga, depicting a man with a sword fighting the cardiovascular system of a living continent.

Appearance

Incomprehensibly massive — an entity so large that its body was mistaken for an island. Its interior is a living cavern of organic tissue, tentacles, and a pulsing heart the size of a building. Its mouth is a vortex that swallows ships whole. Tentacles extend for miles across the ocean surface.
