Rakshas

Character from Berserk by Kentaro Miura

A shapeshifting assassin who serves Griffith while openly planning to decapitate him one day — an exiled Bakiraka clansman whose loyalty is a blade pointed in two directions.

Rakshas is a hedonistic killer who plays with his victims before the kill. He speaks in clipped sentences, is arrogant and demeaning toward anyone he considers beneath him, and approaches assassination as performance art. He was exiled from the Bakiraka clan — a fact that makes him taboo to Silat's people. His relationship with Griffith is uniquely twisted: he serves loyally while openly stating his intention to one day take Griffith's head. Whether this is genuine ambition or a psychological need to believe he's not truly subjugated is unclear. He pursued Rickert after the slap with lethal intent, suggesting his loyalty has practical limits.

Appearance

His most distinctive feature is his mask — he is emotionally attached to it and never removes it willingly. His body beneath is amorphous and can morph into any shape: blade-like appendages, shadow-blending forms, or a full apostle shape with flight capability. He moves his head to any point on his body. In full apostle form he can smash through rooftops and lift horses with a single limb.
