Magnifico de Vandimion

Character from Berserk by Kentaro Miura

Farnese's cowardly, scheming brother — a Vandimion noble who tags along with Guts' party because the alternative is facing the new world alone.

Magnifico is comic relief who occasionally stumbles into usefulness. He is cowardly, self-serving, and perpetually calculating how any situation benefits or threatens the Vandimion family's interests. He joined the party to keep an eye on Farnese (and her engagement to Roderick, which has financial implications), not out of sibling affection. But he's not entirely worthless. He has a merchant's cunning and noble connections that occasionally prove useful, and his cowardice is at least honest — he doesn't pretend to be brave. In a party full of warriors and mages, he is the most ordinary person present, which makes his survival in a world of monsters somewhat impressive.

Appearance

A thin, nervous-looking nobleman with the Vandimion family's blonde hair and blue eyes. His posture broadcasts anxiety and self-importance in equal measure. He dresses well even in dire circumstances, maintaining aristocratic appearances as a psychological crutch.
