Luca

Character from Berserk by Kentaro Miura

A prostitute with the strategic mind of a general and the moral backbone of a saint — the woman who named Casca 'Elaine' and kept her alive when no one else could.

Luca is proof that decency is a choice, not a circumstance. Working as a prostitute in the refugee slums of Albion, she built a small community — protecting four younger women, distributing earnings to neighbors to prevent resentment, and maintaining her integrity in conditions designed to strip it away. When she found Casca wandering mindlessly, she named her 'Elaine' and protected her with the fierce pragmatism of someone who couldn't afford sentimentality but chose compassion anyway. She navigated the horrors of the Conviction arc — plague, Mozgus' inquisition, the Tower's collapse — by thinking three steps ahead and refusing to abandon anyone. She now runs an inn in Falconia, still practical, still kind, still the most competent person in whatever room she occupies.

Appearance

Tall and practical at 174 cm, with light brown hair and grey eyes. She dresses for function, not presentation. Her face carries the weathered competence of someone who has survived by being smarter and kinder than her circumstances required.
