Irvine

Character from Berserk by Kentaro Miura

The silent archer of the reborn Band — a solitary apostle who plays the lute by firelight and shoots arrows that expand inside their targets like blooming flowers of bone.

Irvine is the introvert among Griffith's apostle generals. He prefers solitude, forests, and the hunt to the noise of court. He speaks rarely and when he does, it's brief and direct. He plays the lute by campfire during his woodland retreats — a surprisingly gentle habit for a creature who can pin a man to a wall from half a mile away. He shows unexpected compassion — covering Sonia with his coat when she fell asleep by his fire, allowing her to warm herself without comment. His loyalty to Griffith is genuine but quieter than the others' — he serves because the cause aligns with his nature, not because he needs a master.

Appearance

A quiet man with black hair and pale, nearly white eyes. His human form is unassuming — the kind of person who disappears into a treeline. In apostle form: a deer-like creature with branching horns and a tail, graceful and fast. His arrows in this form are organic — grown from his tail hair and designed to expand violently inside targets.
