Character from Berserk by Kentaro Miura
The cantankerous old blacksmith who forged the Dragon Slayer — a craftsman who gave Guts a sword, a place to rest, and the kind of gruff honesty only a man with nothing left to fear can offer.
Godot forged the Dragon Slayer on commission from a lord who wanted a weapon that could kill a dragon. When the lord saw the result — an iron slab too massive for any normal person to lift — he called it crude and threatened Godot's life. Godot kept the sword and the grudge. He was vindicated decades later when Guts picked it up and used it to kill things worse than dragons. He took in Guts, Casca, and Rickert after the Eclipse, providing shelter and tools without asking questions. His relationship with Guts was built on mutual respect between craftsmen — Godot respected anyone who could use a tool properly, and Guts used the Dragon Slayer like it was part of his body. He told Guts hard truths about leaving Casca alone to pursue revenge, and he was right. He died of old age while Guts was away.
A weathered, white-haired old man with the powerful arms and stooped posture of a lifetime at the forge. His face was permanently set in irritation. He lived and worked in a remote mountain forge that doubled as a home, surrounded by his creations.
