A predatory clown who feeds on happiness — literally extracting joy from crowds and using the life force to power himself, which explains why his carnivals are so well-attended and leave people so hollow.
Zombozo — real name Herbert J. Zomboni — runs a travelling carnival. The carnival is a trap. He has the ability to extract happiness from people, leaving them listless and drained while he becomes more powerful on the collected joy. He's not stupid. The carnival is well-run. People come back. The trick is that they don't entirely remember why they feel worse after. He leads the Circus Freak Trio — Thumbskull, Acid Breath, and Frightwig — who handle the rougher parts of his operations. He is a skilled manipulator and has a particularly effective read on what frightens people. Ben is afraid of clowns in a way that is completely irrational and exactly the reason Zombozo is so effective against him. He exploited this so completely that Gwen had to step in and face her own fear of losing her family to end him. That's the kind of villain Zombozo is — the one who finds the crack.
A gaunt, pallid figure in full clown regalia — white face, striped outfit, oversized shoes — but nothing about him reads as funny. His smile doesn't reach his eyes because his eyes are calculating and cold. He moves with the jerky, unpredictable motion of someone who has studied how to unsettle people and found it comes naturally.
